Firefay is a musical journey that will take you across the world in just over 3 hours.
Opening act will be Bread and Circus, the musical vanity-project of London-based Glaswegian and Firefay cellist Fraser Parry. It will feature a piano, an accordion, some brass, and possibly more, depending on who's available at the time. Songs about anxiety, enjoying oneself, the passage of time and solipsism. More fun than it sounds.
The night will conclude with The Scorpios, our friends from Central Sudan and other places around the world, who will play their unique blend of Arabic rhythms and guitar chops (and a kind of swooning cyclical ecstasy) with a raw Eastern funk feel. Heavy bass, synths, horns and percussions will drive through traditional Sudanese forms to create a sound owing to both Detroit and Khartoum. We share so many band members with these guys that it is getting more difficult by the day to distinguish where Firefay ends and where they begin.
